Automated micro-needling is an innovation in aesthetics for the treatment of the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and the skin’s texture, tone and color. The skin’s repair process results in improvement of the appearance of softer wrinkles. Eclipse MicroPen® is the most advanced medical-grade automated micro-needling device on the market.
How Is MicroPen® Different From Dermal Needling Rollers? Automated micro-needling devices move in a vertical direction for better precision when treating the skin. Unlike Automated Micro-needling the roller does not create a precise vertical action. The lack of precision can contribute to greater discomfort and inconsistent effects to the skin. How Is MicroPen® Different From Lasers? No heat also equals less downtime! Most Eclipse MicroPen® patients are red for 24 hours or less. That advantage means you can get the procedure performed on a Friday and be back to normal for work on Monday. How Is The Procedure Done? A sterile cartridge containing 12 tiny micro-points is attached to the Eclipse MicroPen®. Your skincare professional will apply a thin layer of saline solution to your skin and select the appropriate treatment setting based on your unique needs. Next, in a single motion, the pen will be gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding until the entire treatment area has been covered. |
What are the risks?
The medical community generally considers microneedling to be safe and effective, but there are still some risks.
The primary risk is skin irritation after the procedure. Other side effects could include:
• swelling
• discomfort at the site
• redness
• bruising
• dryness
• flaking of the skin
Bleeding is an uncommon reaction to microneedling, though it may be more likely to occur after a deeper treatment.
Bleeding may also be more of a risk for people who have bleeding disorders or who are taking blood-thinning medications. It is important to disclose this information to a doctor before receiving this treatment.
There is also a risk of more serious side effects, including:
infection
skin pigment changes
reaction to topical medications used during treatment
Some devices involve additional risks. Those that use energy or heat can increase the likelihood of burns.
Finally, some people are not candidates for microneedling treatment, including those with:
an active skin
infection
active acne
keloid scarring
an unstable skin type
Seeing a dermatologist or medical skin care professional who is experienced in these types of procedures will help minimize the risks.
PRE-TREATMENT.
You will be asked to discontinue use of Retin A, Retinols, Vitamin A creams and other topic medications for 3-5 days before your micro needling treatment. It is required that you wear a sunscreen daily and use the appropriate home care topical products.
To ensure the proper healing environment, be certain to observe the following:
For at least 2 days post treatment, do NOT use any Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acid, Retinol (Vitamin A), Vitamin C (in a low pH formula) or anything perceived as ‘active’ skincare. Avoid intentional and direct sunlight for 24 hours. No tanning beds. Do not go swimming for at least 24 hours post-treatment. No exercising or strenuous activity for the first 24 hours post-treatment. Sweating and gym environments are harmful, rife with bacteria, and may cause adverse reactions. |

Please also avoid smoking tonight as this will impair your skins ability to heal effectively.
Day after treatment:
Good morning, well done! You may now wash your skin with a gentle cleanser and the WOW Jude cloth, avoid any fruit acid serums and vitamin A for the next few days. And don’t forget… SPF SPF SPF!
2nd day after treatment:
Some patients may experience slight flaking, this is completely normal as the skin renewal process speeds up, please do not pull at skin, you may apply a calming, thick moisturizer to help. Don’t forget your SPF
