Mesoestetic MD Blemiderm Skin Peel
Treatment Description
The Mesoestetic MD Blemiderm Skin Peel is a medical-grade, targeted resurfacing treatment specifically formulated for oily, acne-prone, and seborrhoeic skin, including skin experiencing breakouts associated with menopause or hormonal changes. Developed by Mesoestetic, one of the world’s leading professional skincare laboratories, this advanced peel delivers a powerful combination of keratolytic and comedolytic activity to deeply cleanse and resurface congested skin at a clinical level.
The Blemiderm Peel works by combining a blend of active acids, including glycolic acid (AHA) and salicylic acid (BHA) to exfoliate the skin at multiple depths, dissolve impacted comedones, regulate sebaceous secretion, and reduce basal redness. The result is a visibly clearer, more refined, and better-controlled complexion, with significantly reduced pore size, fewer breakouts, and improved skin texture and tone.
The treatment is safe for all Fitzpatrick skin photo-types (I to VI), making it one of the most inclusive anti-acne peels available, effective and suitable across all skin tones, including ethnic and darker skin.
What to Expect
- Consultation: Before treatment, your clinician will assess your skin type, acne presentation, and history to confirm the most appropriate protocol. A pre-peel homecare preparation phase may be recommended to standardise the skin and optimise the peel’s therapeutic response.
- The Procedure: The skin is thoroughly cleansed and degreased to remove all sebum, makeup, and residue before the peel is applied. The Blemiderm peel solution is then carefully applied to the skin in a controlled layer. You may experience a mild tingling or warming sensation as the acids work, this is normal and typically settles within minutes. The peel is self-timed and the session concludes with the application of a restorative serum or mask to calm and support the skin.
- Keratolytic Action: The keratolytic properties of the peel break down the bonds that hold dead skin cells together at the surface and within the pore lining, loosening and dissolving the built-up keratin that blocks follicles. This allows impurities, excess sebum, and dead cells to be effectively cleared from the pore.
- Comedolytic Action: The comedolytic properties specifically target and dissolve comedones, the blocked follicles (blackheads and whiteheads) that are the precursor to most acne breakouts. By clearing these obstructions, the peel reduces the conditions that allow acne-causing bacteria to proliferate.
- Sebum Regulation: The peel’s seboregulating activity helps normalise the overproduction of sebum by the sebaceous glands, reducing excess oiliness, mattifying the skin, and decreasing the risk of future congestion and breakouts.
- LED Light Therapy Enhancement: Adding LED light therapy to your Blemiderm peel session significantly enhances outcomes, particularly blue light, which destroys acne-causing bacteria at the skin surface, and red light, which reduces inflammation and accelerates healing.
- Results: A restorative treatment serum is applied at the close of the session and left on the skin overnight. Improvements in skin clarity, texture, and congestion are typically visible from the day following treatment, with continued refinement over the days that follow as the skin completes its renewal cycle.
Benefits
- Targets Acne at Every Stage: Effective for all phases of acne, comedonal (blackheads and whiteheads), inflammatory (papules and pustules), and post-inflammatory pigmentation, making it a comprehensive treatment for acne-prone skin at any stage of the condition.
- Unclogs & Refines Pores: The keratolytic and comedolytic action dissolves impacted pore contents and removes the keratin plugs that block follicles, visibly reducing pore size and keeping pores clear.
- Regulates Sebum Production: Actively normalises overactive sebaceous glands to reduce excess oiliness and shine, creating a more balanced, mattified complexion.
- Reduces Basal Erythema: Calms the persistent background redness (basal erythema) commonly associated with acne-prone and seborrhoeic skin, resulting in a more even skin tone.
- Improves Skin Texture: Removes deep skin impurities and resurfaces the skin’s outer layers, improving texture, smoothness, and overall skin quality.
- Even Skin Tone: Addresses post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and uneven tone associated with acne scarring, progressively improving colour uniformity across the skin.
- Anti-Inflammatory & Antibacterial: The peel’s active formula delivers anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and seboregulating effects, directly targeting the root causes of acne beyond surface exfoliation.
- Safe for All Skin Types: Clinically suitable for all Fitzpatrick photo-types I to VI (including darker and ethnic skin tones), making it one of the most inclusive and versatile anti-acne peels available.
Preparation Instructions
- Night Before Treatment: Avoid vitamin A (retinol) products on the evening before your appointment.
- Retinoids & Active Ingredients: Stop all retinoid creams, serums, and other active ingredients two days before treatment.
- Sun Exposure: Avoid prolonged sun exposure and tanning for at least two weeks before your peel.
- Pre-Peel Homecare: For best results, your practitioner may recommend a preparation phase using Blemiderm homecare products for 15 days before your first in-clinic peel. This standardises the skin, increases dermal penetration of the peel’s active ingredients, and optimises the therapeutic response.
- Arrive Clean: Come to your appointment with clean, product-free skin, no makeup, moisturiser, or SPF on the areas to be treated.
- Contraindications: The Blemiderm Peel is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for skin with active open wounds or infections in the treatment area. Inform your practitioner of all current medications and skincare products.
Aftercare
- ⚠️ Crucial Rule: Do not wash your skin on the evening of treatment, a special restorative treatment has been left on the skin and must remain overnight. Do not use any active ingredient products for five days following treatment, and wear SPF every single day.
- Night of Treatment: A special restorative treatment has been applied and must remain on the skin undisturbed overnight. Do not wash your face or apply any additional products.
- Day After Treatment Morning: It is now time to gently wash the treatment off. Use only a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser and a soft cloth. Avoid anything active, exfoliating, or astringent for the next few days.
- Day After Treatment Evening: Allow the skin to rest. Continue with gentle cleansing and hydration only.
- Day 2: Some light flaking, tightness, or dryness is common as the skin’s renewal process accelerates. Do not pick at or pull any flaking skin — allow it to shed naturally.
- Day 3: A daily collagen supplement taken throughout your treatment programme significantly supports healing, repair, skin elasticity, and long-term results.
- Day 4: You may now reintroduce your active products this evening. To achieve the best and most sustained results, it is essential to follow the personalised medical homecare programme prescribed by your practitioner alongside each in-clinic session.
- Ongoing Aftercare: Avoid all active skincare (retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, strong vitamin C) for five full days following each peel session. Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every morning throughout the treatment programme and beyond. Keep the skin gently moisturised throughout the renewal phase to support barrier repair and minimise discomfort from dryness or flaking. Do not pick at, squeeze, or force any flaking skin or any active acne lesions.
