Hair removal is one of the aesthetic medical industry’s most well-known and researched uses of lasers. Pain-Free, Hair-Free’s Soprano®XLI laser has provided permanent hair reduction for thousands of patients worldwide, safely and successfully since it was cleared by the FDA in 2005.

How many treatments will I need?

There are a number of factors that can affect the success of a series of hair removal treatments, but generally, after each treatment, you’ll see a noticeable, permanent reduction in the number of hairs that regrow in the treatment area. Typically, it will require 4-10 treatments or more to permanently reduce the number of regrowing hairs by more than 80%, six months after the last treatment.

Will my hair grow back?

The short answer is no. Once the hair follicle is damaged, it cannot grow new hair. However, there are invariably a few hair follicles that manage to partially escape the laser during each treatment. Many factors including genetics, hormones and dormant follicles affect hair growth so we advise maintenance ’top up’ treatments to keep any stray hairs at bay

Will I need to take off work?

No. Pain-Free, Hair-Free requires no “down time” or recovery time. You can have a treatment and return to work or school immediately.

Is it painful?

Most people find Pain-Free, Hair-Free very comfortable. While pain tolerance is subjective, many patients often describe the sensation as soothing as a “hot stone massage.” If you find it otherwise, talk with your doctor or laser technician.

Please ensure that you do not have a suntan on the areas to be treated and that all fake tanning and bronzing products are completely removed before you arrive as these are contraindications to the treatment and your therapist will not be able to treat you.

Cold compresses may be applied to the affected areas should any heat be present

Should any heat rash/hives be present anti-histamine is advised

Sunblock of SPF 30 is a minimum requirement during treatment programs.

Should any blistering / weeping be present it is advised to keep the area dry until this has passed.

Should there be any discomfort after your treatment paracetamol may be taken.

Please avoid any excessive heat i.e.; saunas, steam rooms, hot baths and excessive exercise for 24 hours following your laser hair removal treatment

An Aloe Vera gel may be applied following your treatment to soothe any irritated skin.

Hairs are expected to shed 2-4 weeks after your treatment but this may be sooner or later, this varies from patient to patient.

Cold sores are a contra- indication to treatment and should one be present we will not be able to treat the area. Should patients be prone to cold sores please use preferred treatment for 2 days prior to your laser session.

If you are experiencing any skin sensitivity you may apply a soothing gel like aloe vera.
