AQ Prodefine Smart Fillers

Treatment Description

AQ Prodefine Smart Fillers are an advanced generation of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers designed to enhance volume, erase wrinkles, augment lips, induce collagen production, and restore the youthful three-dimensional contour of the face.

There are many filler choices available, from hyaluronic acid (a naturally occurring human protein responsible for cushioning the skin) to newer fillers and volumisers designed to address larger volume loss, such as sunken cheeks, lost cheekbones, and very deep nasolabial folds and marionette lines. AQ Prodefine Smart Fillers utilise advanced C-Link technology, which ensures safe and gentle delivery of potent active ingredients while extending filler longevity and improving outcomes for volume replacement.

Wrinkle treatment should begin as soon as a wrinkle develops, while it is still soft. Neglected wrinkles become ingrained and scar-like, making them extremely difficult to treat successfully. Early intervention with dermal fillers prevents further skin breaks, stimulates fibroblasts, and encourages the body’s own collagen production, resulting in prolonged filling effects and lasting wrinkle improvement.

The Consultation: Treatment begins with a thorough consultation to assess your facial anatomy, skin concerns, and aesthetic goals. Your practitioner will recommend the most appropriate filler product and technique for your needs.

The Procedure: A topical anaesthetic may be applied to the treatment area to minimise discomfort. The filler is then precisely injected into targeted areas using fine needles or cannulas. The procedure is typically quick, most sessions are completed within 30 to 60 minutes.

Volume Restoration: For ageing faces, volume loss often occurs higher up, in the temples, eyebrow area, and cheeks. By lifting and replacing lost volume in these upper facial zones with dermal fillers, gravity is defied and the face is naturally rejuvenated.

Collagen Stimulation: Repeated filler injections (every 6 to 12 months) ensure superior long-term results as collagen is continually stimulated, yielding outstanding outcomes with minimal downtime.

Immediate Results: Results are visible immediately following treatment, with optimal outcomes appearing once any minor swelling has fully resolved, typically within one to two weeks.

Benefits

  • Volume Enhancement: Restores lost facial volume in the cheeks, temples, and jawline for a natural, youthful three-dimensional contour.
  • Wrinkle Reduction: Fills fine lines and deep wrinkles, including nasolabial folds and marionette lines, for a smoother, more refreshed appearance.
  • Collagen Induction: Exerts gentle pressure on fibroblasts, stimulating the body’s own collagen production for prolonged and lasting skin improvement.
  • Lip Augmentation: Enhances lip volume, definition, and symmetry for a fuller, more balanced appearance.
  • Advanced Technology: Utilises innovative C-Link technology for safe, comfortable delivery and extended filler longevity of up to two years.
  • Minimal Downtime: A non-surgical treatment with immediate results and a fast recovery, allowing most patients to return to daily activities the same day.
  • Natural-Looking Results: Designed to complement and enhance natural facial features rather than alter them, delivering subtle, aesthetically refined outcomes.

Preparation Instructions

  • Prior to Treatment: Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E) for one week before your appointment to minimise the risk of bruising.
  • Alcohol: Avoid alcohol for at least 48 hours before treatment, as it can increase the risk of swelling and bruising.
  • Skincare Products: Discontinue active skincare ingredients such as retinols, AHAs, and vitamin C serums for 24 to 48 hours prior to treatment.
  • Recent Procedures: Inform your practitioner if you have had any vaccines, dental work, illnesses, or aesthetic procedures in the two weeks prior to your appointment.
  • Contraindications: Fillers should not be administered if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have active skin infections or inflammation in the treatment area, or suffer from certain autoimmune conditions. Discuss your full medical history with your doctor at consultation.

Aftercare

⚠️ Crucial Rule: Do not massage, press, or apply pressure to the treated areas for at least 24 hours. Avoid manipulating the filler before it has fully settled.

Exercise: Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours post-treatment to minimise swelling and bruising.

Alcohol: Avoid alcohol for 24 hours following treatment.

Skincare: Do not use AHAs, retinols, vitamin C therapy, or oil-based makeup for 24 hours after treatment.

Treatments to Avoid: Avoid facials, facial waxing, glycolic or AHA peels, IPL or energy-based treatments, and microdermabrasion for two weeks after your filler appointment.

Sun & Heat: Avoid prolonged sun exposure, saunas, and steam rooms for 48 hours post-treatment to reduce swelling and protect results.

Swelling & Bruising: Minor swelling, redness, or bruising at injection sites is normal and typically resolves within a few days. Apply a cool compress gently if needed, do not press firmly on the area.

FAQ

How long does filler last?
Results vary depending on the product used, the area treated, and individual metabolism. On average, dermal fillers last between 6 and 12 months, with some advanced formulations lasting up to 2 years. Repeated treatments every 6 to 12 months ensure superior long-term results as collagen is continually stimulated.

Is the treatment painful?
Discomfort is minimal. A topical anaesthetic is applied before treatment to numb the area. Most patients describe the sensation as a slight pinch or pressure during injection. Any tenderness at the injection sites typically resolves within a day or two.

When will I see results?
Results are visible immediately after treatment. Optimal outcomes are seen once any swelling has fully subsided, usually within one to two weeks.

Are there any side effects?
The most common side effects are temporary bruising, swelling, and redness at the injection sites. These typically resolve within a few days. In rare cases, if correction is needed, hyaluronidase can be used to dissolve hyaluronic acid filler safely.

Who is a good candidate for Smart Fillers?
Good candidates include adults experiencing volume loss, deep lines and folds, lip thinning, or a loss of facial contour. A thorough consultation will determine whether fillers are appropriate for your individual concerns and health history.

Can fillers be combined with other treatments?
Yes. Dermal fillers are commonly combined with other aesthetic treatments such as anti-wrinkle injections, skin boosters, or energy-based devices for a comprehensive facial rejuvenation plan. Your practitioner will recommend the best combination approach for your goals.
