Health Diagnostic Consultation
Treatment Description
We offer a comprehensive medical health diagnostic consultation designed to provide a detailed picture of your mind and body wellness, going beyond standard blood tests to assess the deeper physiological systems that govern how you feel, function, and recover.
At the heart of this assessment is the measurement of heart rate variability (HRV) a powerful, non-invasive indicator of how well your autonomic nervous system is functioning. Your heart does not beat at a perfectly regular rhythm; the subtle variations between each heartbeat reflect the ongoing dialogue between your brain and body. High HRV generally indicates a resilient, well-regulated nervous system capable of adapting to stress and recovering effectively. Low HRV, by contrast, can be an early signal of stress overload, poor recovery, cardiovascular strain, or underlying health imbalances, often before more obvious symptoms appear.
The consultation incorporates measurements across four key dimensions of health: the balance between the parasympathetic (‘rest and digest’) and sympathetic (‘fight or flight’) nervous systems; brain health and cognitive function indicators; heart health and cardiovascular resilience; and overall body stress levels. Together, these measurements provide a comprehensive wellness score that forms the basis of personalised recommendations to support your health and vitality.
What to Expect
- The Consultation: Your health diagnostic session begins with a detailed discussion of your current health concerns, symptoms, lifestyle, sleep patterns, stress levels, and wellness goals. This contextual information is an essential part of the assessment and helps your practitioner interpret your results accurately.
- The Assessment: Using advanced diagnostic monitoring technology, your practitioner will conduct a non-invasive assessment that measures the activity of your autonomic nervous system through heart rate variability (HRV) analysis. Sensors are placed comfortably on the body and readings are taken while you are in a relaxed, resting state. The process is completely painless and typically takes 15 to 30 minutes.
- What is Measured: The assessment evaluates: the balance between your parasympathetic (rest and recovery) and sympathetic (stress and alertness) nervous systems; indicators of brain health and cognitive load; cardiovascular health and heart function resilience; and your overall body stress score and recovery capacity.
- Your Results: Results are reviewed and explained in full by your practitioner during the consultation. You will receive a clear breakdown of your wellness scores across each measured dimension, along with an understanding of what the findings mean for your health, and what you can do about them.
- Personalised Recommendations: Based on your results, your practitioner will provide tailored recommendations to support nervous system balance, reduce stress load, improve sleep and recovery, and optimise your overall wellbeing. This may include lifestyle adjustments, nutritional support, stress management techniques, or referral for further assessment where indicated.
Benefits
- Early Detection: HRV and autonomic nervous system assessment can reveal early signs of stress, fatigue, or cardiovascular strain before more obvious symptoms develop — enabling proactive, preventative action.
- Comprehensive Mind-Body Picture: Goes beyond standard blood tests to assess the nervous system, brain health, heart function, and stress load simultaneously, providing a holistic view of your current wellness.
- Non-Invasive & Painless: The assessment uses advanced monitoring technology with no needles, no blood draws, and no discomfort, making it accessible for anyone concerned about their health.
- Personalised Insights: Results are reviewed and explained individually, with recommendations tailored specifically to your wellness scores, lifestyle, and goals.
- Understands the Root of How You Feel: Many people feel chronically tired, stressed, or unwell despite normal routine tests. This assessment provides objective data on the underlying physiological systems that may be contributing to these symptoms.
- Tracks Progress Over Time: Repeat assessments can be used to monitor improvements in nervous system balance and overall wellness in response to lifestyle changes, treatments, or wellness programmes.
Preparation Instructions
- Prior to Consultation: No specific medical preparation is required. However, for the most accurate HRV and nervous system readings, we recommend arriving well-rested where possible and avoiding strenuous exercise, excessive caffeine, and alcohol for at least 12 hours before your appointment.
- Hydration: Arrive well hydrated, dehydration can affect heart rate variability readings.
- Clothing: Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to allow easy placement of monitoring sensors.
- Medications: Continue taking any prescribed medications as normal unless specifically advised otherwise. Please bring a list of current medications and supplements to your appointment.
- Health History: Come prepared to discuss your current symptoms, sleep patterns, stress levels, lifestyle habits, and any relevant medical or family health history. The more context you can provide, the more personalised and meaningful your results will be.
Aftercare
- ⚠️ Important Note: This consultation provides a wellness assessment and personalised guidance — it is not a replacement for medical diagnosis or treatment. If your results indicate any concerns warranting further investigation, your practitioner will advise and refer you appropriately.
- Review Your Recommendations: Take time to review the personalised wellness recommendations provided following your consultation. Small, consistent lifestyle changes (in areas such as sleep, nutrition, breathwork, and stress management) can produce meaningful and measurable improvements in your HRV and overall wellness scores over time.
- Stress Management: Techniques such as deep diaphragmatic breathing, meditation, mindfulness, and yoga have been shown to strengthen parasympathetic nervous system activity and improve HRV. Your practitioner will advise on what is most appropriate for your results.
- Sleep: Prioritise sleep quality, poor or insufficient sleep is one of the most significant contributors to low HRV and nervous system dysregulation. Aim for seven to nine hours per night with consistent sleep and wake times.
- Exercise: Regular, moderate aerobic exercise supports cardiovascular health and improves HRV over time. Avoid overtraining, which can temporarily suppress HRV.
- Nutrition & Hydration: A balanced diet rich in whole foods, adequate hydration, and reduced alcohol intake all positively support heart rate variability and nervous system resilience.
- Follow-Up: A repeat assessment is recommended after eight to twelve weeks to track changes in your wellness scores and evaluate the impact of any lifestyle adjustments made following your initial consultation.
